Web sites
What is a Web Site?
A Web site is the most cost-effective means of getting your message out to the world. It is your electronic brochure, press packet, or calling card, available to the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
Like a printed booklet or brochure, a Web site is made up of pages. A Web site is a group of pages about a company, person or idea, usually united under a single "domain name." A domain name is the part of a Web address that comes after the "www." For example, ibm.com, cocacola.com, etc.
Web sites can be made up of text, pictures, photographs, etc., much like printed brochures or advertisements.
Who needs a Web Site?
Anybody that wants to get noticed by computer users! If your desired audience/customers are likely NOT to use computers and/or the Internet, then there is little reason to have a site.
Why should I have a presence on the World Wide Web?
-
Your Web site is an effective way to get people to remember your name - and that's half the battle in getting the job or landing the client!
-
Worldwide access to information about your products and/or services
-
The World Wide Web is the fastest growing, most economical advertisement medium.
-
Everyone likes to surf the Internet, including your potential clients. Give them a place to visit-YOUR SITE!
How will people find my site?
We suggest that you use your Web site address (URL) on every piece of printed material you use (ads, business cards, letterhead, etc.).
Plus, we design sites that are designed to get noticed. Our simple design approach includes using keyword-rich text on the home page. This elementary step can make the difference in Google (the top search engine) being able to "read" your site.
Do you optimize sites for Search Engines?
Generally speaking, we do not use frames, nor will we design a site completely in Flash. Occasionally we'll use Flash animationWe want everyone to be able to view your site in all its splendor. Our design principle is simple. We design beautiful, functional sites that look great on any computer with any Web browser, which don't require any special downloads. We also want people to be able to return to your site again and again. Frames and all-Flash sites often prevent people from being able to "bookmark" certain pages of your Web site. They also make it more difficult for the Search Engines (like Google) to determine what your site is really about. This means, when someone is searching for you, they are LESS likely to find your site, because the Search Engine cannot correctly "read" what's in your site.
We make sure that your site loads quickly and that all the pictures have an "ALT" tag (like a caption) so that people can see a description of the picture, even before it completely loads. This means that even folks with less sophisticated browsers can see whats supposed to be there. It also means that sight-challenged people can fully "read" your site.
Why should YourType design my site?
YourType takes pride in making each Web site reflect the unique professional image of the individual or business. Unlike the "cookie-cutter" sites of our peers, we'll make a site that you'll be proud to call your very own.
